The product direction is simple: messaging should feel fast and familiar, while encryption, retention, and infrastructure stay boring, auditable, and intentionally hard to abuse.

Matrix Chat is planned around Signal Protocol style end-to-end encryption for message privacy, combined with RAM disk storage for temporary operational data. The goal is simple: protect the message content cryptographically, and avoid leaving unnecessary server-side residue behind.

A RAM disk stores selected temporary server data in memory instead of writing it to normal persistent disk. If the server restarts, powers down, or the retention window expires, that volatile data is removed instead of lingering as recoverable files, deleted blocks, snapshots, or forgotten backups.
End-to-end encryption protects message content. RAM disk storage protects the operational footprint around the service by reducing durable metadata residue, disk-forensic exposure, accidental log retention, and long-term storage risk. Less stored data means less data to leak, subpoena, steal, or misconfigure.
RAM disk is not a replacement for encryption, access control, secure keys, or backups where backups are required. It is a privacy hardening layer for data that should be temporary by design.
